Brother TN330 Tape Trick - How to Pull It Off and Terminate Toner Low Prompts?

The Brother TN330 toner cartridge depends on its reset mechanism to deliver the allowable number of printed pages. Once the rated number of pages has been breached - 1,500 pages at 5% page coverage in the case of the Brother TN330, the reset gear automatically shuts down the printer. However, before toner is totally used-up, an optical sensor is programmed to deliver blinking lights on the control panel. This should alert the user of a low toner status and the need to replace the brother toner cartridge as soon as possible.

In most instances however, the amount of toner that lingers inside the cartridge's toner chamber (after the toner low lights are flashed) is still adequate for a few hundred prints. What actually happened in this case is that the optical sensor failed to provide the user with an accurate reading of residual toner supply. Cut a piece of black electrical tape and cover the cartridge window.

By covering the cartridge window, the light beam always touches base with the covered electrical tape and the printer will assume that the cartridge is still full of toner.

Printing can now commence until such time that print quality deteriorates, which is an indication that toner is finally used up and it is time to replace the cartridge with a compatible toner cartridge for brother-tn330 or refill the toner cartridge with toner refill kit. Also note not to wait for the reset gear to shut down the printer as cartridge damage is imminent should the latter totally run out of toner.
